How To Be A Gentleman...Tip #5

What's Fresh...?

When To Wear A Tuexedo

A gentleman never wears a tuxedo before six o'clock, no matter what anyone else does. If he owns his own dinner clothes (the correct term for what is known as a tuxedo) he wears them anytime the invitation says "black tie" or "black tie optional." Likewise, if he is attending any formal event (wedding reception or dance etc.) that begins after eight in the evening, he may assume that black tie is appropriate. However, if he knows that other guests at the party are unlikely to be dressed in dinner clothes, he plays it safe and wears a dark suit. If the invitation does not indicate any dress code, or id "black tie optional" is suggested, a gentleman does not feel obligated to rent dinner clothes. In such situations, his dark suit will serve him perfectly.

Love Life. Live Fresh.
